UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

REAL MADRID vs. ATLETICO MADRID

Diego Simeone leads his Atleti side against their bitter rivals Real tonight, with the Argentine looking to exact revenge on their Madrid counterparts after their cruel 2014 final defeat.  Atletico have had to overcome Benfica, Bayern Munich and Barcelona on their way to San Siro and I believe are fully in with a chance of lifting the silverware this evening.

Since the heartbreaking extra-time defeat in the Champions League final two years ago, Atletico are now an impressive 10 games without defeat in matches against their city rivals.  Although, arguably the world’s best player Cristiano Ronaldo has notched as many goals in Europe this season than Atletico have managed as a team (both 16), with Atletico possessing one of the strongest backlines in Europe, this is going to be some test for Zidane’s men.

Since April last year, there have been four Madrid derbies. Between them, they have produced just four goals in total. Going back to February 2014, eight out of 12 meetings have ended with two goals or fewer, and ‘Under 2.5 Goals’ is a firm favourite at 1/2 for this match.

The form guides for both teams in this competition will be similarly dispiriting for the neutral. Opta’s reporting that Atletico have kept 15 clean sheets in their last 21 Champions League games, including four in six knockout games this season. Despite those fine defensive efforts, it’s Real who have the best defence this season: Los Blancos have logged clean sheets in 10 out of 12, with five in six knockout games staying under 2.5 goals.

This season, Los Rojiblancos are masters of the 1-0 win. Winning a total of 12 games this term in all competitions. including defeating tonight’s opponents by the single goal back in February at the Bernabeu.  At a decent 7/1 at Bet365, I feel this deserves to be backed with a small stake but I can certainly see Atletico coming out on top if they can keep Ronaldo at bay and at 11/5, I see this as our best bet in this match.  Good luck!

TIP: Atletico to win (3.20 at Bet365)

TIP: Correct Score Atletico 1-0 (8.00 at Bet365)
